Using a piece of masterboard and Free Valentine Printables

Good evening to you all, another week has flown by and here is my Design Team project for papermilldirect.  This week we are making projects using free printables or templates for Valentines Day.  There are plenty of free downloads out there available from craft magazines to craft stores and blogs on the internet.  I found these lovely tags at Mommy By Day Crafter By Night  where you can find free, for personal use only, Valentine and Christmas printables, and ideas of how to use them.

I chose the 14 days of valentines set of tags, using one to make a card and one as a tag to add to a jar of chocolates. The card was made using a card blank made from papermilldirect white super smooth card a piece of  masterboard I made a few weeks ago and a tag from the set printed on super smooth white card.  The embellishments were cut from Sizzix thinlits dies.

An Easy Valentines Day Card

 

Hello everyone today I have my DT make for papermilldirect, a quick Valentines Day card.  This is something different for me, no stamping, die cutting or machine cutting. I used only papers and toppers from a paper pack which came free with a magazine (back in 2014), papermilldirect smooth white and Christmas red card. 

  
To start I cut three oblong shapes from the heart patterned paper, folded one short end in half without creasing and snipped the bottom off at an angle to create the flag.  The topper and sentiment were attached  to 250gsm card before cutting them out to give them more substance.  The flags were layered onto a piece of red card and the topper and sentiment attached with sticky fixers before being added to a super smooth white 300gsm card blank.  Thick bakers twine was tied round the card with a charm, I embossed the charm with red embossing powder to match the card.

I used the following materials to make this card:

• Papermilldirect super smooth white 300gsm, plain whie 250gsm and Christmas red cardstock
• free paper and topper pack from Making Cards magazine (2014)
• distress ink
• scissors
• glue
• bakers twine
• charm

I have a box full of these paper packs and decoupage pads which I have saved with the intention of using, this is the first time I have used any, and some date back years.  Well I may get round to using some more one never knows!

More Inky Makes For The One Stamp Event

Good morming friend and followers old and new.  Today I have another couple of cards made for this weekend's One Stamp Event over at Oak House Studio.  Many thanks to all who took part, left comments on the Oak House Blog and here on mine too.

This first card has a very vibrant inky background.  The card was photographed standing on the remaining sprayed background which I may use to cut out some die cut butterflies or flowers.  The inky background was created by spraying Colour Chemistry inks randomly onto a pearlised pattern paper.  When completely dry I cut out my three squares, stacked them on top of each other and stamped and embossed the large outline daisy.  Each square was then mounted onto black card and layered with sticky fixers.

 

I die cut the left hand border and backed this with a strip of inky background paper, stamped a greeting at the bottom of the card and attached the inky daisy.  Another quick CAS card with the benefits of getting inky making the background.

I used both the outline and the solid pallete stamp for the background on this card, gesso was used to stamp the background flowers.  When it dried I blended the pink and blue pigment inks over the whole card.  The gesso daisies appear like magic as you add the coloured inks.  The outline daisy was stamped onto plain card with black ink  and heat embossed.  It was coloured with the pink and blues, fussy cut and added to the card.  The sentiment was stamped and embossed onto the card to finish.

I used the following materials for these cards:

• Oak House Studio double daisy and script sentiments stamp sets
• Oak House Studio clear embossing powder
• Oak House Studio Paris pink, totally turquoise and French mint pure colour chemistry ink
• Oak House Studio , dusky rose, powder blue, sea blue and black pigment ink.
• White and black card and a dots border cutting die
