Bringing some Colour To A Dull January

Hi everyone, another Friday and time for a new Daring Cardmakers Challenge.  Ruth is hosting the challenge this week and wants to see your "Colourful" creations.

For my DT make I have been playing with my distress inks, stencils and Sizzix dies and papermilldirect bright card to make this colourful card.

I think we need a little bit of brightness at the moment with the weather being so dull, so do come over and join us in the challenge.  For more inspiration pop over the The Daring Cardmakers Blog where the design team have some beautiful cards on show and to link your cards to the challenge.

One Layer Butterfly Card

Hello everyone, today I have my Daring Cardmakers DT card for this week's challenge.  Dawn is hosting the challenge this week and wants to see "Just Stamping", no die cuts, fancy embellishments or papers.  The design team have some super cards to inspire you so pop over and check out the challenge on the  Daring Cardmakers Blog.

The ciecular background was created with distress oxides through a circular stencil which I made with card and a die.  The background was stamped with various stamps to add interest and the butterfly and sentiment were stamped and embossed in black ink.

I couldn't resist adding a few sequins to finish the card to add a little interest.

I hope you will  join us this week over at Daring Cardmaker for our challenge, get those stamps out and let us see what you make.

Daring Cardmakers January Elemental Challenge

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all.  I am hosting the January elemental challenge this week at Daring Cardmakers.  I picked this lovely blue and brown elemental picture for a "New Beginnings" theme - New Year, new job, new baby etc. but you can make whatever you like.  I chose the blues and browns, the bear, blue and brown textured fabric and the bow in the laces.

look forward to seeing how you use the elements in the picture on your cards, just pick three elements, the colour palette being one choice.  The design team inspirational cards and the link to add your cards can be found on the Daring Cardmakers blog.

I made this New Baby card using a Sizzix 3D textured impressions folder "woven", and IndigoBlu stamps set "Brideshead", blue and brown distress inks and thin blue cord.

A piece of papermilldirect white linen card was embossed and coloured with blue and brown distress inks then added to a white linen card blank.  The bear's head was stamped onto a small piece of white card in blue ink and coloured with brown distress ink.  A sentiment was computer generated, printed and cut out.  The image and sentiment were added to the card and a small blue bow added to the sentiment.

Do come along and join us this week at Daring Cardmakers, we love to see your creations.

New Year Thank You Cards

Hello friends and followers, now Christmas and New Year are over it is time to send out those thank you notes and cards letting your friends and loved ones know how much you appreciated their gifts.  Today I have a set of double aperture thank you cards made with stencils and distress inks.  A detailed tutorial can be found on the papermilldirect blog detailing how I made the cards.

On the above card I used ivory hemp textured card for the card blank and mounts adding a dark violet mat to contrast with the distress inks used.  The stencils are a set of six from Claritystamps.

For these three cards I used Ivory smooth card, purple grape, violet and buff card and a different stencil for each one.
