Good morning all, over at the Craft Barn the Alpha Challenge the letter is "K", this past week has been a good week for getting things done and here is my "K" dictionary page completed. The word I was going to choose was kimono but there have been a few kimono pages already so my "K" word is kakemono - a Japanese hanging scroll, with a few kimonos thrown in for good measure.
The scroll was made using a piece of thick hand made paper which I put through my Big Shot with some corrugated card to give it a reed mat effect. Thin strips of bamboo with beads on the ends were added top and bottom along with some gold and silver cord, the ivory lookalike stamped disk and a tassel. The stamp (Aspects of Design from the Stamp Man - Oriental stamp sets) was stamped onto vellum paper and coloured with watercolours with a little gold highlighting the butterflies in the kimono.
The definition was highlighted by placing stripscof stamped bamboo around it. The various stamps were stamped and coloured with watercolours and the letter "K" stamped, coloured and added to the page. The scroll was placed over the stamping, which I got rather carried away with, dropping the panel stamp before lining it up so the second panel is lopsided but the scroll covers it well!
Once again thank you all you lovely ladies who have left me comments, I am off now to post this and have a look at what you very talented ladies have done with the letter "K".
Just hopping round some K pages.

ReplyDeleteThe kakemono is an art piece on its own, love the clever idea with the corrugated cardboard, works a treat ! But the rest of the double spread is equally good, the stamping and the watercolouring are superb.
