Dreaming Is Reading With Your Eyes Open

Hi everyone, here I am again with another bookmark and a reminder about the papermilldirect monthly challenge.  For those of you who missed my last post the prize for the winner of this month's BOOKMARK challenge will receive a box of papermilldirect card for crafting and cardmaking.

Here is a bookmark with the lovely saying "dreaming is reading with you eyes open",  hope you like my take on it.

Papermilldirect white linen and intensive blue cardstock were used for the tag.  The words were printed onto the white linen bookmark, the IndigoBlu eye stamp was stamped underneath and text stamped ramdomly round the tag.  Salty ocean distress ink was blended round the tag and stencilled dots added randomly.  The white tag was layered onto the intensive blue tag and a gold tassel added.

Details of the challenge can be found on the papermilldirect blog you just need to add your entry to papermilldirect's facebook page, just post a picture of your bookmark and leave a comment.

Good Luck everyone.

Doulble Heart Anniversary Card

Hello everyone, here today with an anniversary card which I made for my husband.  I wanted to use up a piece of heart stencilled background I made a few weeks earlier and found some lovely papermilldirect pearlised card to co-ordinate with the distress oxides used in the background.

I used papermilldirect white linen card for the background and harvest  lustre print gold 300gsm and copper lustre print royal card 300gsm  from the pearlescent range for layering and the die cut hearts.  The Sizzix hearts were cut and attached to the  background and a mixture of sentiments added to make up what I wanted to say, the background mounted on the copper card then onto a hessian card blank.

A very quick easy card which is not too fussy for my husband's taste.

Playing With The Gelli Plate and a Tutorial

Hi everyone, and thanks for popping by to check out my post.  I bought a Gelli Plate two years ago and it has remained unused until a few week ago when I thought I would have a play.  I started messing around with distress inks, stencils and stamps, and was amazed how easy it was to make background prints for cardmaking and mixed media projects.   You can find my DT tutorial for using the Gelli Plate over on the papermilldirect blog.

I used the print I made to make a card. The print was cut to size and the edges blended with ripe persimmon distress ink.  Dots were added to the print with a white pen. The flowers were stamped and white embossed, coloured and fussy cut and attached to the card.  The panel was then matted and layered onto papermilldirect Lustre Print Gold 300gsm in magenta and  smooth black card, and then onto a hemp textured large square card blank.

The picture above shows part of a tag made using the same technique but using textured card to print onto. Papermilldirect's textured cards take colour from the Gelli Plate very well.

I am completely hooked and will be doing much more with the Gelli Plate in the future.

Welcome To Wonderland

Good afternoon everyone, it has been a long time since I entered a challenge so thought I would give it a go this week with the Daring Cardmakers Challenge - Welcome To Wonderland.

This is a quick card as time is running out for this weekly challenge.  The heart background was created using distress oxides and a Tim Holtz mini stencil.  The Mad Hatter's Tea Party and words (from Indigo Blu "Alice ll" set)  were stamped onto papermilldirect smooth white card and heat embossed.  The words were cut out, edged in red and stencilled with a few hearts, the image was torn round and coloured, edged and stencilled with distress inks.

The inked and decorated background was layered onto papermilldirect red card and a pre-folded white hessian card blank.

Loved doing this card and hoping to enter some more challenges over the next few months.
