Good morning friends, followers and passers by. I have been playing with brushos, a background stamp and die cuts this week and have three cards to show you.
I used a selection of papermilldirect textured card, white hemp 255gsm, white linen 255gsm, as well as buff smooth 260gsm, mocha brown plain 240gsm and teal plain 240gsm. The dies were Sizzix and the marble stamp was a Judikins background cube.
I made a Brusho background and added a little gold ink spray and die cut a fern from this background, the fern die was also cut from white hemp card. Another background was made using buff card stamped with distress oxides and copper inks and stamped with the marble effect background stamp.

You can see the effect created with the Brushos and gold spray in the picture above. The die cut white fern was glued into the cut out background, a frame attached round the background and then attached to a card blank with 3D foam tape.
The card above used the die cut from the Brusho background. This was glued directly onto the marbled background which was layer onto mocha brown card, white hemp card and then onto a card blank.
The third card above was created by sticking the white card with the fern cut out over a pieces of the marbled background and layering onto mocha brown card which had been flicked with gold ink, onto a piece of the the marbled card and finally onto a mocha brown card blank. A sentiment was stamped and embossed with copper embossing powder.
Above is a card made with a brighter Brusho background and a flower die, and below the card panel with the cut out flower over the bright Brusho background.

I enjoyed playing around with this type of cardmaking and it is a great way of using up scraps of inky background and card. My next task is to try it with some of the many patterned papers I have accumulated over the years.

ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous cards, love how you have made another card with the piece the dies were cut out off - I love frugalness!! Super projects, great Brusho work - not yet quite got to grips with it!!

Loving this blog post Sylv - I like seeing different ways to use a particular stamp or die set. Beautiful examples. Shabneez x
ReplyDeleteFabulous! The texture of the paper gives interest to designs fairly full of white space and the watercolour backgrounds look gorgeous with the inlaid die-cuts/negative.
