Tissue Paper Painting Save The Date

Good afternoon friends, family and anyone popping in to take a look.  Save the date and weddings are our theme today on the papermilldirect blog,  quick and easy wedding invitations can be made with just a few supplies and here is what I made while away on holiday last week using pretty shades of tissue paper to colour my cards.  For anyone who has not seen this simple technique al you have to do is cut out tissue shapes, place on your card and wet with a little water, when dry lift tissue away to reveal the coloured shape.

Here is a save the date card and invitation using papermill direct's special offer ivory long grain  cardstock and cream paper  with a little  raspberry pink card for contrast.

I used the tissue paper technique to apply the hearts to my card and overstamped with a PaperArtsy minis text stamp.  The ivory long grain card is a soft textured card ideal for this technique as it took the colour from the tissue paper superbly.

The save the date matchbook card was lined with cream paper and overstamped with the text stamp, a calender was mounted onto raspberry card and added to the inside with the date highlighted in pink.  The cream card is a lovely weight, ideal for printing your wedding card inserts.

I had fun over the last three weeks seeing what I could make with just a few craft supplies.  What do you take with you to do when away?  I took some inks, stamps, blending brushes, card and had a trip to Hobbycraft for a few embelishments.  I was pleased with my makes but am glad to be back to my craft room full of wonderful things, really missed the die cutters and wide range of stamps and inks.

How to Make A Contrast Background Starburst Card

Good afternoon blogland, what do you do with your scraps of card and patterned papers?  Today I have a starburst card tutorial on the Papermilldirect blog showing you how I have used some of mine.

Here are my starburst cards with different embellishments used to cover the area where the points join.

Ink Duster Daisies

Hi everyone an early and damp start for me this morning,  up with the lark to take the dogs for a walk.  Today I have a card using a home made stencil cut from daisy dies and coloured using ink dusters, dye ink pads and distress markers.

I used Papermilldirect pale blue, marine blue, vellum, buff and black cardstock for my two cards, the vellum and pale blue can be found in the Special Offer section this week.

Materials used:

Here are my two cards using the same technique, one using the vellum card and the other the pale blue and a stencil I made myself using daisy dies.  To make my daisy stencil I cut out the daisies leaving a large area of card surrounding them from a scrap piece of card.

I cut a square of the vellum and pale blue card and stamped both with the floral swirl in white ink and embossed it using clear embossing powder.  The home made stencil was placed over the vellum card and the daisies were coloured using ink dusters with dye ink pads in blues, pinks and yellows.  For the pale blue card I used distress markers, colouring onto an acrylic block so I could pick up the colour with my ink duster.  Both pices were mounted onto black card then onto card blanks, marine blue for the pale blue and buff for the vellum.  Die cut greetings were attached to finish.

Celebrate With White, Ivory And Silver

Hi everyone, this is my first post for two weeks.  I have my Papermilldirect DT card for you today.  There is a great selection of card in the Special Offer Section this week, I used 325gsm ivory taffeta alongside silver and white linen to make this anniversary/wedding card and gift card.  All three cards and many more can be found in the Special Offer Section, the ivory taffeta is a super weight and quality card and as you know the white linen is my most used card.

I was a bit limited for materials so had a quick trip to the local Hobbycraft where I bought some stamps and ribbon.  I used white linen cardstock to make a card blank and  a panel to mount the hearts onto, another slightly larger panel was cut from the ivory taffeta card.  The bottom corners were rounded on all pieces before stamping with lilac Versamark and the chrysanthermum stamp.  The sentiments are Crafter's Companion Signature Collection special day and the heart dies I'm not sure of the make but they are a set of one plain and three flourish hearts.

I did write a post last week but it didn't get published,  here is what I made.   I had my sons and grandchildren for the second half of the school holidays, they went out a few day and played at home the rest of the time. I bought a scrapbook set for my granddaughter at Christmas and I made a scrapbook page using Papermilldirect 12" x 12" white linen card to give her an idea of what scrapbooking is about.  Papermilldirect sell the full range of colours in 12" x 12" now ideal for all you scrappers out there.

I sprayed my page with Oak House Studio Colour Chemistry inks in french mint and bottled sunshine and used distress inks in cracked pistachio and rusty hinge with a selection of stencils.  The saying from Bee Crafty was stamped onto apple green card and mounted onto sunflower yellow colourflute card.  A lovely memory of a stay at grandmas.

All Dressed Up In Pink

For my papermilldirect DT card this week I am using a free digital image from All Dressed Up  a Nottingham company who have an  ETSY store with some gorgeous girly digi stamps.  They have a challenge blog with fortnightly challenges and some free images for you to use if you have none of their stamps.

The image was printed onto papermilldirect smooth white card and coloured using polychromatic pencils.  I coloured the image in pinks so used papermilldirect raspberry pink card as the contrast on my round easel card.

I have been looking through my dies this week and thought I would use some older dies to create a circular easel card.  The dies used were some of the first I bought, Spellbinders Nestabilities and a Marianne fancy circle die.  The base card was cut using one of my recent purchases Crealies circle dies.

The following dies and materials were used to make my card:

  • Dies - Crealies Cre-Nest-Lies XXL 21 circles, Clearly Besotted sentiment hello, Memory Box Kensington border, Spellbinders Nestabilities circles and oblongs, Marianne doily scolloped circle
  • Papermilldirect white linen, smooth white and raspberry cardstock
  • Free digi image from All Dressed Up
  • Polychromo coloured pencils
  • Petaloo flowers, ribbon pearls from my stash
