Getting Sporty For The Daring Cardmakers Chalenge

Hello followers, friends and family, it's Friday and time for this week's Daring Cardmakers Challenge.  The theme this week is A SPORTING CHANCE pop over and take a look at what the Design Team have come up with I'm sure you will be inspired to join in the challenge.  There's lots going on in the sporting world at the moment so more inspiration there too.

My card is to congratulate a young Karate student on gaining a higher level.  The image is a digital download from Polkadoodles called Karate Boy, this was printed onto papermilldirect super smooth 300gsm cardstock and coloured with Polychromo pencil crayons.

The image was coloured then trimmed and mounted onto to black card ready to place on the left of a 15cm x 15cm linen card blank.  The sentiment was computer generated, printed and also mounted onto black card to be added at the top right of the card

The black Karate belt was tied with the correct knot round a square of white linen card and the image and sentiment added with 3D sticky pads.  I added a black mat to the card blank and layered the karate image onto it with 3D sticky pads.

Do come and join us in this week's challenge at Daring Cardmakers we would love to see your sporting cards.

Feminine Birthday Card

Hi everyone, I have a feminine card today using papermilldirect card, paper and envelope.  My DT post with a tutorial showing materials used and how I made the card can be found on the papermilldirect blog.

I have been struggling lately with cards for my female relatives and friends so decided to use a mixture of stamping, pretty papers and die cut butterflies, I came up with this simple design and was very pleased with the results.

Firstly a random pattern was stamped across the card blank with vintage photo and tattered rose distress ink.  The sentiment was stamped in vintage photo then a buff card strip with patterned paper layered onto it was attached above the sentiment.  The butterfly was stamped and edged with the distress inks and added to the patterned strip.  A few sequins were added to finish the card.

Now I have to come up with a few more feminine cards using the pretty papers from a 6" x 6" paper pad.

Daring Cardmakers Elemental Challenge

Great news this week, I have been asked to be a guest designer on The Daring Cardmakers Challenge.  I am just back from a three week holiday and this is a good kick start to get me into the craft room and get me crafting.

Daring Cardmakers hold a weekly challenge starting each Friday, pop over to their blog to find out more.  The challenge this week is an elemental challenge - to make a card using three or more elements from the picture below:

For my first card I picked the flowers, the vases (black and white element) and the colours yellow and the green from the bouquet.

The yellow background was created using Brushos on papermilldirect white linen card.  The stamp used was JOFY mini 22, and I made the striped washi tape using masking tape.

My second card used the circles, the colour yellow and the succulent in the bouquet (stamped on the top right circle).  The background is distress inks on white linen card, the six circles were stamped with Oak House Studio stamps and the sentiments were computer generated.

I found the shoe and sentiment stamp whilst rummaging through boxes of old stamps, not sure of the make as they are very old.  I 3D the shoe and added a flower coloured to look like the succulents in the bouquet. added circles underneath and used a yellow papermilldirect card blank.

It was challenging for me to make these cards as I do not use a lot of yellow in my cardmaking but found they came together with the black and white and odd touch of green quite well.

Hope you can take time to join in the Daring Cardmakers Challenge this week.
