Second Wedding Anniversary Card - "Cotton"

What a glorious day we are having today, the sun is shining and the cold wind we have had over the past week has subsided.  It is my son Stephen's 2nd wedding anniversary next week and he asked me to make him a card for his wife, something special and relating to "cotton" for the 2nd anniversary.  I had already started a tag card for them with a sewing theme so had to rack my brain for what to do, and this is what I came up with.

A piece of A4 white linen card was folded into a tent fold card and the sentiments were computer printed to the top and bottom of the card.  A piece of white card was stamped with a Stampendous word definition stamp in tattered rose DI and cut to fit in the center of the card.  The theme was cotton so I cut a strip of fabric from an old pair of linen trousers and stamped it with flowers and leaves using two inkadinkado shadow stamps (flower on one side, square shape with rough edges the other) and Momento dye ink, this was then sewn onto the word backing card.  The card was edged with worn lipstick DI and attached to the main card with a strip of beige coloured lace trim from my stash.  The word cotton was cut on the Silhouette and attached to the stamped linen strip. The flower was made with a little bit of trim from an old blouse and a heart shaped button added to the center.  The butterfly was cut on the Silhouette and edged with worn lipstick DI, a small heart button added then attached to the card.

The inside of the card was layered with vellum stamped with the flowers and leaves then a smaller white paper stamped with the words and then the verse printed on plain white paper with a flower stamped on the bottom left hand corner.  Didn't take a picture of the finished insert but the vellum and word papers are shown in the picture below.

Finally I made a box to put the card in, I used the same style as the card using the stamped cotton fabric and butterfly, the card was placed in the box with tissue paper

All that was left was a mad dash to the post office to post it for Saturday delivery, cost an arm and a leg to send but my son needed it this weekend, he is working away in Scotland next week and want to give it to Beth this weekend.  I can't wait to hear from them to see what they thought of my take on Second Wedding Anniversary "Cotton".
