This week I wanted to complete my January page and had an idea in mind which fitted well with the felt theme. I had no felt in my stash so went out and bought a piece of white on Sunday at the local nursery craft shop. I thought it was a bit thin! I remember felt being quite thick and chunky.
My idea for January was "January brings the snow, it makes your face and fingers glow".
The idea was to cut snowflakes from the felt, I tried but had no
success I did'n't have a die which would cut through, I really needed something a little
more substantial. In a flap I scoured the craft room to see what I had
hiding in boxes and found some white flock, no idea when I bought it, or
for what.
Dark blue card was embossed with snowflakes and a white ink pad rubbed over the surface to highlight, some of the snowflakes were covered with flock. The New Year stamp (not sure of the make) was stamped and embossed with clear powder and coloured with DI, the words were printed on the computer and a doodled border put round to match the stamp, this was coloured with DI too. The calendar was embossed with a few small snowflakes and edged with DI. To finish three snowflakes were covered in flock, the stamp and words had flock added to (I hope) look like snow.
Don't know whether I will use the flock again it went everywhere, I will be dusting for days!
Hi Sylv. Love your January page - great improvisation with the flock and great sentiment too!!
ReplyDeleteI too had very little felt but 'recycled' a some pieces from another project. I think your flock snowflakes are beautiful and you have definitely captured the look of snow! great page x
ReplyDeleteAdore this page. The colours are perfect, sweet stamp, and the flock just sets it all off. The snowflakes are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThe flock is perfect for this page
ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous page, great details.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous inky page and I love what you've done with the flock. I agree with you about the felt being very think these days. I used some felt that I've had since my daughter was in infant school - she's now 20! - so it was a completely different quality to some I bought recently to make applicators for alcohol inks which you could almost see right through.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
